The story of Domados in the Uco Valley.
When wine becomes art.
C O N C E P T
The Uco Valley is a special place, a territory with a millenary history, rich in culture and traditions that date back to the times of the aborigines.
Knowledge, patience, meticulous care, and respect were key elements in the ability of the Amerindian Indigenous people to master their horses. They particularly distinguished themselves in the way they trained them, using a technique based on an understanding of equine behavior and the building of a relationship of mutual trust, a method that required close interaction between man and animal, called "doma india".
Unlike the Spanish who used coercive methods, the aborigines used patience and gradual training to gradually accustom the horse to the weight of the rider, vocal commands, and reins. Thanks to this technique, they were able to create a strong and lasting connection between man and animal, becoming “faithful companions for life”.
“Making a good wine is like taming a horse“
This analogy represents us, because as in horse taming, producing a quality wine requires passion, dedication, patience and attention to detail in each step of the production process.
We believe that our wines convey an experience that embraces the culture, history, and territory of the Uco Valley.
For us, wine is art, a tangible representation of beauty and richness of our culture and history.
H I S T O R Y
DOMADOS was born from the dream of two Italian immigrants who arrived in Argentina at the beginning of the last century and settled in the heart of the Uco Valley, in the center-west of the province of Mendoza.
Don Giocondo Ficcardi and Humberto Spigatin began cultivating Malbec vines in 1920 in La Consulta, a town that has some of the best soils in the world for these vines.
This work was continued by his children Bruno and Fany Elena. Currently, two of his grandsons, Reinaldo and Daniel, carry on DOMADOS with enthusiasm and passion.
